Taking a trip down memory lane
Dec. 9th, 2018 05:53 pmOnline streaming services pretty much destroyed my habit of collecting DVD's and CD's. Books I still hoard, because books are my friends, but I don't think I've purchased a single DVD or CD in this decade.
A couple of summers ago, I dragged all my old DVD's and CD's to the basement, where they've lain untouched ever since. Sort of an emergency backup in case the Internet decides to implode. Yesterday, I decided that it's time to start going through that shit and purge everything but the things I love.
Now I have a box full of movies and seasons of TV shows in my apartment, as well as a back that's screaming at me for never going to the gym and hence lifting that 40 lb box with my back instead of my legs. So my big plan for the upcoming months is to go through the DVD's and throwing them away unless I absolutely loved them, in which case I'll make room for them in my apartment. But they will not be hauled back into the basement.

Most of the CD's are still down in the basement awaiting a similar fate, but it will be a bigger hurdle going through all of those, because they meant a lot more to me in the first place.
